    Illuminating Garden Lighting

As the sun has been out a few times recently, just to tease us and make us yearn for summer even more, it’s got me thinking about the garden. Having ignored the fact that I even have a garden for several months now, I’ve been dreaming of long summer evenings enjoying some wood-fired pizzas and a vino (to three) on the terrace, and how my beautiful garden lighting will add atmosphere and beauty as the sun goes down…. Only trouble is, I don’t have ANY garden lights at all, so I need to sort this out sharpish!

So, what makes good garden lighting? I’ve been pondering this a lot, and I think it’s in the simplicity of the design of the light, so that the light it projects is the feature. I think it’s important to invest in good quality, simple, sophisticated design as cheap lighting just looks… well, cheap. I’m not talking super expensive, but it’s worth investing slightly more in good lighting, you won’t regret it.

Solar lights are also becoming much better, a quick search online can take you to companies who specialise in good solar lights (not cheap garden centre ones which don’t really work). Solar lights are great if kept simple, as they allow you to light parts of your garden, without the rigmarole of getting electrics put it,  which might otherwise be left to darkness. They can light a garden path, or highlight some pretty bamboo or a tree which might be at the bottom of the garden.
